Traversing through the days and nights of the two months of the Umbrella Movement in Hong Kong in 2014, the photographic works of South HO intentionally avoid scenes of howling protests; instead he reverts to the quotidian perspective of the occupier, documenting another kind of landscape which is quiet and calm. These images constitute also the artist’s own confession in regards to the movement – where passion and loss interweave into a tangled sense of paradox and futility.

South Ho Siu Nam(1984-) graduated from the Social Work department at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2006. In 2013, he co-founded "100 ft. PARK", a non-commercial art space dedicated to providing an open platform for exhibiting and sharing art. His work is collected by the Burger Collection, Hong Kong Heritage Museum (Hong Kong), Legislative Council of Hong Kong (Hong Kong) and Kiyosato Museum of Photographic Arts (Japan). Ho currently lives and works in Hong Kong.
